About the event
Despite decades of commitment and investment, our suicide-prevention systems still face major challenges. Services are often fragmented and reactive, and despite everyone’s best intentions, many processes focus on 'managing' risk rather than truly 'mitigating' it. Front-line staff can feel uncertain or overwhelmed, while the people we aim to support may still slip through the gaps.
This reflective, practice-driven workshop invites leaders to explore what genuine safety means in complex human systems. Drawing on evidence-based frameworks from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed leadership, and the Mindful Regulation Framework, Alex helps participants uncover the systemic patterns that quietly undermine prevention efforts, and demonstrates how to rebuild safer, more connected systems from the inside out.
When adverse events occur- such as client suicide, self-harm, or critical incidents- teams and organisations face not only deep emotional impact but also significant ethical and procedural responsibilities.
