About the event

Developing effective treatment plans for patients with complex mental health issues can be very challenging.

Patients with complex mental health issues often present with:

* Risky behaviours (eg. harm to self or others)

* Frequent episodes of crises

* High utilisation of crisis or other healthcare services, without improvement

* History of failed treatment attempts or 'treatment resistant' disagnoses

* Multiple of multiple &/or childhood trauma

* Chronic difficulties with emotion regulation

* Possibly diagnosis of personality disorder or complex- PTSD

These patients present unique challenges for healthcare providers, as usual treatments often are not successful.

In this webinar, clinicians will learn how to better understand complex mental health needs & more effective treatments for their long-term recovery. We will explore:

* Common misunderstandings of risky behaviours & 'treatment resistance'.

* Research findings on recommended treatments models for complex mental health needs.

* How to increase willingness in a patient who may feel hopeless about treatment

* The key factors that need to be present for a complex patient to get better.

Hosted by Alex Wilson- Accredited Mental Health Social Worker & Director of Mindful Recovery Services & the Central Coast DBT Centre.
